Defiance Electric & Crossover Inc host Job Shadow Day for local Middle School students
Enfield, NH - April 2007 - Defiance Electric and Crossover Inc, a leading provider of design-build electrical and telecommunications services, partnered with Indian River School in West Canaan, NH, to host Job Shadow Day. Middle School students interested in a career in the electrical, telecommunications, and security fields visited the offices of Defiance Electric and Crossover Inc to learn more about the skills required to work in the trade and the educational opportunities available to students seeking to acquire those skills.
Mike Guay, Vice President of Defiance Electric and Crossover Inc, led the students through an interactive discussion on the basic principles of electricity and the means by which an individual could pursue a career in the field. The students then gained practical experience with the basic hand tools used in the trade; each student was able to bend conduit, strip wires, and terminate a category 6 jack successfully after a demonstration by Mike and the team at Defiance Electric and Crossover Inc.
Students also received a tour of a two local design-build projects, one residential and one commercial, which Defiance Electric and Crossover Inc were completing. Students were able to gain valuable insight into the scope of work involved in both a residential and a commercial project and better understand the process from design to implementation.
